I have finally finished my three night, 12 hour shifts, work week. I don't drink coffee, but in some sense I wish I did, cause I am finding it extremely hard to stay awake at night. The thing about night shifts is not the work, which is quite easy, cause everyone's asleep, it's the NOT falling asleep part that's tough. I've been trying alot of stuff, but still at that 3am ring I am fighting to keep my eyes open. Pop, candy, walking around the unit several times, tea....the list does go on. It also doesn't help when your sitting with your baby for the night, rocking him to sleep, in a dark, warm room, with soft baby music playing in the background. So far though, my trick is Coke and Orange Pekoe tea. They can make me last till I crash at home. I'm just worried when those wear out....then what!! Will I be succumbed to the head bobbing, eye twiching manic!?!

That is SO ADORABLE, I can just picture you rocking those little babies I bet your so sweet to them.
I have not worked enough nights to give you any advice but I know the feeling well 3:00 am rolls around you start to get cold your eyes start twiching and all you can think about is closing your eyes. Just don't fall asleep on your drive home blast the music and unroll your windows if you have too.
oh you doubt that anyone reads this but they are just so awe struck at your writing and thought provoking topics that they remain speechless!!!!!!!! or should I say commentless?????
that is the cutest baby ever! caffeine is addictive and i'm hoping that those babies that you are rocking to sleep are not in there because of caffeine addiction!
Skeeners, I think all you have to do is just try a coffee, and slowly you'll like it more and more. I guess it's kinda like wine, the more you try the better it tastes. But also be thankful that you're not dependant on coffee like some people we know...aka mom...fred!
I never liked coffee at all until I tried a French Vanilla from Tim Hortons. It's basically just sugar, but it also has caffeine. Steven didn't drink coffee either until he tried a French Vanilla, unlike me that is still the only coffee he will drink, and I'm really into lattes right now. Anyway, are you aloud to wear an Ipod?
allowed not aloud
There was a male Nursing Attendant that woked nights and wore an i-pod at work he got in SO MUCH trouble and later got fired.
